Permalinks in WordPress control the link that is displayed in the browser bar.

It can either be pretty for example http://www.mintthemes.com/pretty-url or something not so pretty like http://www.mintthemes.com/?p=4343834 which isn’t great for visitors as its not memorable and doesn’t tell the visitor what content is shown on the page or search engines.

We would recommend setting up your Mint Themes WordPress Permalinks the following way.

1. Log into you’re WordPress backend usually www.domain.com/wp-admin
2. Go to the Settings tab in the WordPress backend and then click on “Permalinks”
3. You will see a field called “Custom Structure” delete what is in the box if there currently is anything.
4. Type the following into the box: /%postname%/
5. Click “Save Changes”

This will now allow your URL’s to be pretty and much more memorable for visitors, below is a screen shot of how it should look.
